MySQL server running very slow (no replies)

Since, I upgraded to Windows 8 32-bit Professional, I have been getting lots of problems. First was some kind of port confliction, but I anyhow solved it. Again I got another problem, MySQL is taking a huge time for running.

This is a screenshot I took to show the performance in phpmyadmin:
http://i47.tinypic.com/333imw4.png

This is from the command line:
http://i49.tinypic.com/efp2rr.png

The thing is that from cmd I can't even connect to mysql. No error, no warnings but just hangs up.

Please Help!

MySQL - Referencing aggregate column in where clause (1 reply)

This seems so simple but I can't seem to figure it out without doing subqueries (which seem to slow down the queries significantly - takes almost 10 seconds instead of <1).

Let's say I have a table of sent documents, and I want to select the ones that have been updated since they've last been sent, and the ones that have never been sent.

SELECT d.document_id, max(sd.document_sent_date) as last_sent_date
FROM documents d
LEFT JOIN sent_documents sd ON d.document_id=sd.document_id
WHERE last_sent_date is NULL OR last_sent_date<d.last_updated
GROUP BY d.document_id

Is something like this possible? Basically, I want to use the result of max() in my where clause.

Hi,

I downloaded MySQL 5.5.29-2 RPMs that I downloaded from mysql.com (server, client, devel, shared and shared-compat) and installed the RPM's. I tried starting it up using the script installed in ./etc/init.d. The startup failed after about two seconds. The only error informtion it left behind was the .err file in the datadir:

Trying to install MySQL for the first time. I went through the first time and nothing showed up in the configuration section of the installer.
I went back in and am getting an error when trying to install MySQL Server 5.5.30.
Its status says to be installed I then hit execute and it says "install error"
Any ideas of whats going on....
I am on 64 bit but could only find a 32 bit installer...

Whats this? And how do I fix it?
Could not access network location \Hewlett-Packard\\.

Fresh 5.6.10 fails to start due to (Errcode: 2 - No such file or directory) (1 reply)

Windows 2003 32bit latest patches & SP
MySQL Installer 5.6.10
Fresh installation to a system for testing purposes with the following path variables written out by the installer.

Registry - Location - D:\servers\MySQL\MySQL Server 5.6\
Registry - DataLocation - D:\servers\MySQL\

my.ini - basedir="D:\servers\MySQL\MySQL Server 5.6\"
my.ini - datadir="D:\servers\MySQL\data\"

After installing the system to a non-standard location it tries to start but then fails after running for a couple seconds. Looking in the Windows system logs it appears the mysqld.exe is mangling the path information being passed to it. "Can't create test file D: ervers\MySQL\data\rapterdev.lower-test" As you can see the path is missing the \S for the start of the path structure.

So I went and ran the startup commands with the my.ini passed to it and captured the output below. As you can see the \S is being stripped out in several places almost like it's treating it as an escaped character or variable.

Mysql 5.5 stops suddenly in Solaris 10 (1 reply)

Hi everone,

This is my first thread in MySQL forums. I hope someone can help me.

I have installaed MySQL 5.5. in Solaris 10, following instructions for .pkg installation.

After installation complete, I run mysql by command line (not service) setting --datadir parameter for pointing alternative directory. Detailed:

from /opt/mysql/mysql/bin, I run: bash mysqld_safe --datadir=/export/home/mysql/data &

It starts without problems but in certains situatios, when I execute a large script for example from a client sql tool, MySQL stops suddenly without information about what happens:

My system runs with 8GB RAM, and I have stablished my-huge.cnf as /etc/my.cnf configuration template.

MySQL innodb_data_file_path (no replies)

The default configure in my.cnf file
innodb_data_file_path=ibdata1:10M:autoextend:max:128M

According to the documents of mysql 5.5, it means Maximum size of ibdata1 is 128M.
"use the max attribute following the autoextend attribute. The following configuration permits ibdata1 to grow up to a limit of 500MB"

I didn't make any changes to my.cnf and restored my innodb databases from another server. The two databases are 6G in total, but my ibdata1 is only 18M. Is there something wrong? When I look the two databases on the new server by using du -h, it shows the right size for each database.

Shall I remove max:128M since my disk space is not a concern?

Thanks,

Lili

binary logging on non deterministic functions (no replies)

I realize that with the default statement logging you can't use nondeterministic functions with binary logging. However I have changed from statement based logging to row based logging and it will not let me create a function that is labeled as NOT DETERMINISTIC.

I have verified that the running server reports binlog_format as row.
I have upgraded the server to 5.6.10 and I still see have the issue.

When I try to create the function it responds with "RROR 1418: This function has none of DETERMINISTIC, NO SQL, or READS SQL DATA in its declaration and binary logging is enabled (you *might* want to use the less safe log_bin_trust_function_creators variable)"

It looks like my options are to either label the function as deterministic or to use log_bin_trust_function_creators. With row based logging I should still get valid logs but these both seem to be less than ideal.

Is there a more correct way to do this? It seems that using row based logging should allow nondeterministic functions.

Can't start MySQL even manually (no replies)

I can't start MySQL 5.5 server even manually from cmd prompt, when I go to /bin folder and run "mysqld.exe --console"

The paths in my.ini file are all correct.

The print screen of the error message is this (I'm sorry it's in Japanese):
http://www.worldsupport.jp/MySQL-err_mess.gif

The first error message says that the service mysqld.exe will be terminated, sorry for the inconvenience, send or not the report to Microsoft, bla bla..

It sais to press the blue link which I do, then I get the second error message, which is below in the print-screen image.

Then it sais to press the first blue link, for technical information; so then I get the window in the third print-screen.

It's a long text but unfortunately it can't be copied in the clipboard.
It's made a reference to the 'errmsg-utf8.txt' file.

I uploaded the content of this file:
http://www.worldsupport.jp/errmsg-utf8.txt

Now, the thing is I can't find any error log file in the MySQL folder (I'm on win XP Pro, Japanese version).
I did a *err* search in the mysql directory; the printscreen is here:
http://www.worldsupport.jp/MySQL.gif

I don't know if it helps with anything, but I uploaded the content of the "mysqld_error.h" here:
http://www.worldsupport.jp/MySQL-error.txt

and the content of 'errmsg.sys' file here:
http://www.worldsupport.jp/errmsg.txt

What could be the problem...?

Thanks

Hi folks,

I am newbie to Mysql administration. While installation mysql cluster on local linux system i'm facing problem-

when I login as 'root' system user, I am unable to start mysqld service
but when I login as 'mysql' user i'm able to run mysqld service which throws few errors.

Here are some commands which I ran as 'root' user on local system --

Second, when I login as 'mysql' database user I get the following messages
# su mysql
bash-4.1$ /devops/mysqlc/bin/mysqld --defaults-file=conf/my.cnf &
[1] 31417
Here a few lines of log file -

130208 0:19:10 [ERROR] /devops/mysqlc/bin/mysqld: Can't find file: './performance_schema/events_waits_current.frm' (errno: 13)

Let me know of the issues which is causing this problem.
Any pointers are appreciated.

Environment Variables in Configuration File? (1 reply)

You can use system environment variables in the Apache configuration file, but what about MySQL?

For example, how can you specify that the data directories should be in the Windows user profile or that all log files should be in the temporary directory? Setting them from the shell is not practical because that could result in a very, very long command-line, not to mention it defeats the point of using the configuration file to set options.

Can you currently use system environment variables in the conf file (my.cfg/my.ini)? If not, please add the ability.

I can't see my database in Manage Import / Export. Please Help ! (2 replies)

Hi, I have two problems (which I think are related) :

1) I can't enter with my root account from the command line.
When I type Windows+R --> mysql -u root -pmypass , it opens and closes in like 0.5 seconds.

So I defined a new account with all privileges, it worked, and I created my database. now the second problem:

2) When I want to export this database, I click Manage Import / Export but there are only mysql, sakila etc. default databases, and not the one I created.

I tried to setup new connection with my new account, not worked.
Please help me, how will I get Workbench to work?

p.s. : I recently formatted my computer and installed everything from scratch. Before the format I was able to do everything with only my "root" account.
I have Windows 7 (x64) , and installed MySql with "mysql-installer-community-5.5.27.2.msi"

innochecksum fails after installation (without any personal databases) (no replies)

Hi,

I'm using mysql 5.5.29 on Ubuntu Server 12.10.
After crashes, I've uninstalled, purged and re-installed mysql-server.

Without any new databases, except the default databases of the installation (information_schema, mysql and performance_schema), using the configuration in my.cnf :

--------------------------------
[mysqld]
default-storage-engine = InnoDB
wait_timeout = 60
innodb_file_per_table
innodb_flush_method=O_DIRECT
--------------------------------
I obtain in /var/lib/mysql the 3 files:
ibdata1, ib_logfile0 and ib_logfile1

innochecksum ibdata1 --> OK
innochecksum ib_logfile1 --> OK
but:
innochecksum logfile0 --> page 0 invalid (fails log sequence number check)

After the previous crashes (see beginning of my message), I read in the file 'error.log' the same type of problem :
--------------------------------
InnoDB: Database page corruption on disk or a failed
InnoDB: file read of page 193.
--------------------------------
(I had only 1 big file, ibdata1. Line 'innodb_file_per_table' was not in my.cnf. I added it to find where is the problem.)

What should I do?
I don't dare to restore my databases, I'm sure it will crash again... I have to solve the problem of 'page 0 invalid' first. Isn't true?

Who can help?

Thanks!

Data nodes stuck on "starting" stage (no replies)

Hi,

MY SETUP
--------

I have set up an extremely simple MySQL cluster on Centos 6 as shown below. This is not a production environment and I am working using VMs. These are CLEAN/FRESH installations of Centos 6 and I have only performed yum update on all of them and installed a MySQL cluster.

SQL Server Node 1: 192.168.77.231
SQL Server Node 2: 192.168.77.232
Management Node: 192.168.77.233
Data Node 1: 192.168.77.234
Data Node 2: 192.168.77.235

I have populated each machine's /etc/hosts file with every other machine's hostname->IP allocation. I have disabled SELinux, CentOS Firewall and iptables on ALL machines.

THE PROBLEM
-----------

After installing MySQL, I manage to successfully run the Management Server. Next, I try to connect the data nodes. I am running the "ndbd" command on both nodes. When I check the state of the cluster from the management node, I see this:

[root@localhost var]# ndb_mgm -e show
Connected to Management Server at: localhost:1186
Cluster Configuration
---------------------
[ndbd(NDB)] 2 node(s)
id=2 @192.168.77.234 (mysql-5.1.63 ndb-7.0.35, starting, Nodegroup: 0)
id=3 @192.168.77.235 (mysql-5.1.63 ndb-7.0.35, starting, Nodegroup: 0)

[ndb_mgmd(MGM)] 1 node(s)
id=1 @127.0.0.1 (mysql-5.1.63 ndb-7.0.35)

[mysqld(API)] 2 node(s)
id=4 (not connected, accepting connect from mysql-mysqld1)
id=5 (not connected, accepting connect from mysql-mysqld2)

The two data nodes are stuck on "starting". I also tried initiating "ndbd -n" on the nodes and then starting the service from the management node (ALL START) but the result is the same. The management node logs show this:

2013-02-18 18:21:49 [MgmtSrvr] INFO -- Node 2: Initial start, waiting for 3 to connect, nodes [ all: 2 and 3 connected: 2 no-wait: ]
2013-02-18 18:21:51 [MgmtSrvr] INFO -- Node 3: Initial start, waiting for 2 to connect, nodes [ all: 2 and 3 connected: 3 no-wait: ]

I have no idea what the problem may be. I've researched all over and found nothing. I've disabled firewall and triple checked all my config files. Here are the config files I'm using, maybe they could be of use:

Odd logon behaviours! 5.5.27 32-bit on Vista 32-bit running as a service.

I can use standard method to logon as root via MySQL Workbench, both locally (32-bit) and from a W7 64bit WB. In fact I can logon as all my users via this. And I an also use ODBC View (3.10 and 4.0) as each user.

I used "SELECT User, Host, Passsword FROM mysql.user ORDER BY User" to verify that each root account has the same password, and same privileges.

Under installation I choose to "Enable logon root from remote computer".

I have root users at Host: %, localhost, 192.168.1.*

I have no --skip-name-resolve in the my.ini.

The problem is, even running console as administrator with the right paths (or from mysql...\bin), I cannot use: mysql.exe -u root -p
_______I ALWAYS GET: ERROR 2003 (HY000): Can't connect to MySQL server on 'localhost' (10061).

Some other applications like Mentat's DreamCoder, and some built in interfaces in f ex Scilab doesn't work and objects/protests in the same manner, while an ODBC package in R works. It is also to be noted that some Ubuntu 12.04/12.10 also protests...

I have had the MySQL server up and running fora year, and previous 5.1.x, 5.0 earlier on, for some 4-5 years, but this is the first time it doesn't work locally with the mysql.exe as one example.

The problem is that I cannot configure everything the way I want to, or to use all programming tools et c vs MySQL.

What does these problems indicate as the actual cause of the errors?

Hello, I've successfully installed MySQL 5.6 onto Centos 6.3 (had to uninstall the old MySQL 5.1 version that gets bundled with it) but now am getting what looks like some folder sharing conflicts when trying to install the latest Workbench gui. Anyone know how to fix & install Workbench successfully? Thanks in advance.
