I'm new to Mysq but have experience in JAvA. I want to migrate my applications to RHEL 5. My senior has installed MYSQL and Tomcat on the linux machine. He has also set the mysql user password and initialised the database using mysql_install_db.
I am accesing the linus m/c through another machine due to some internal issues.
Hence I log in through my login-id and then do su - mysql.
if I give command to start the server it is saying server already started , If I give command to stop it: bin/mysqladmin -u root shutdown or bin/mysqladmin shutdown it gives error as : connect to server at 'localhost' failed Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: NO)' or my id instead of root.
What should I do?
