Can't Install Workbench: Won't recognize Visual C++ (no replies)

Hi all, I'm having a problem installing MySQL Workbench 5.2.37 onto my computer. Every time I open the .msi install file I get an error telling me I need to install Visual C++. I've already installed it (as well as .net) but I still get this error. Has anyone encountered this before? The workbench installed fine on my laptop which is Windows XP but it won't install on my new desktop.

x86 32 bit
Windows 7
