Dear all,
I've a weird problem: I installed MySQL on my laptop and everything seems fine except that no desktop shortcut was created from which I run MySQL (5.1) on my PC (a different computer than my laptop on which everything runs fine).
If I go to MySQL server in the Windows Start menu, there's only the config wizard so that won't work either.
I then examined the working shortcut on my PC and it leads to "C:\Program Files\MySQL\MySQL Server 5.1\bin\" which is a folder but the target type in the shortcut is an application (which I guess it should be). This folder contains a file 'MySQL.exe' but if I double click it (both on my PC and laptop), MySQL seems to open for half a second and then closes with a loud 'beep'.
The service 'MySQL' does run (automatically) on my laptop so I guess that doesn't cause the problem.
Thanks a lot in advance for any suggestions!
