Config problem at 'Start Service' part (no replies)

I've been going around in circles all day with this. I follow all the installation instructions found on your website, but whenever I get to the final step in the "MySQL Server Instance Configuration" installation, it hangs on the "Start sevice" step. In fact, clicking anywhere in the window causes a "(Not Responding) message.

If I open up the Services program, there is a new "MySQL" sevice listed there, but it isn't running or anything.

I am using Windows 7; downloaded the 32-bit app; in MSI format.
