Allow a user to create and manage own databases but not view others (3 replies)

First off, my apologies if this is in the wrong forum. This one looked like the most appropriate as it included configuration.

I tried searching for awhile but can't find any answers to what I need specifically. I have a particular MySQL server that is hosting the databases for a few websites. What I'd like to do is allow a certain user who I know well who creates a lot of web applications to be able to create his/her own databases in MySQL [not users, just DB's] and have control over them so that he/she can have a different database for each of his/her projects [each database/project will use the single user account belonging to the user]. I'd also like to restrict that user from viewing other databases on the server. I trust this user a lot, but I don't want the temptation or ability to view other databases to be there. I would like, however, for this user to be able to add their own databases and edit them should it be needed.

Is this possible? I'd assume some sort of global permission would need to be applied on the users account, but how to do this looks like it may be impossible.

No, I'm not configuring a second MySQL server, I'm trying to avoid that. I know it's entirely doable, but I want to see if this can be done first.

Thanks in advance!
