Ok so I don't know really anything about MySQL, I have the Sams Teach Yourself SQL in 24 hours book, and been really struggling to get my SQL up and running on my home box. I am running a duel partition of Win7 64-bit, and Ubuntu 64bit, I dont have access to my errors during the security authentication. I had aloud the ports and tried to configure avast!.
I did however get it to install on my ubuntu installation and now getting an error message of ERROR 2002 (HY000): Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock' (2) while typing mysql at the command prompt. Again I don't know really anything about SQL besides import and export stuff that I use in my everyday work. I am trying to learn SQL any help would be great.
