Port problem insetting up group replication (no replies)

Hi,

I'm setting up gourp replication, but I have a port problem.
Coulc someone help me?

I added the following lines in my.cfg.

--- my.cfg ------
loose-group_replication_local_address= "127.0.0.1:24801"
loose-group_replication_group_seeds= "127.0.0.1:24801,127.0.0.1:24902,127.0.0.1:24801"
-----------------

However, I got an error as follows:

-----------------
mysql> SET GLOBAL group_replication_bootstrap_group=on;
Query OK, 0 rows affected (0.00 sec)

mysql> START GROUP_REPLICATION;
Query OK, 0 rows affected (1.09 sec)

mysql> SELECT * FROM performance_schema.replication_group_members;
+---------------------------+--------------------------------------+-------------+-------------+--------------+
| CHANNEL_NAME | MEMBER_ID | MEMBER_HOST | MEMBER_PORT | MEMBER_STATE |
+---------------------------+--------------------------------------+-------------+-------------+--------------+
| group_replication_applier | 083ebdd9-ec51-11e6-b129-000c298ddb21 | db01 | 3306 | ONLINE |
+---------------------------+--------------------------------------+-------------+-------------+--------------+
1 row in set (0.00 sec)
-----------------

As you see, I designated the port number 24801 in my.cfg, but the MEMBER PORT above indicates 3306.

So, I added the following lines, but again, I got an error.

--- my.cfg ------
[mysqld]
port=24801
-----------------

-----------------
mysql> SET GLOBAL group_replication_bootstrap_group=on;
Query OK, 0 rows affected (0.00 sec)

mysql> RESET MASTER;
Query OK, 0 rows affected (0.01 sec)

mysql> START GROUP_REPLICATION;
ERROR 3092 (HY000): The server is not configured properly to be an active member of the group. Please see more details on error log.

Any solution?

MySQL5.5 initialize command, please help (no replies)

Install MySQL5.5 on Win2012 R2 OS.
Create a database: DS2
Database name is "web"
Run command "use DS2;"
Then run command "mysqld --initialize-insecure;" to initialize "DS2" DB.

Got "Error 1064 <42000>: You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MYSQL server version for the right syntax to use near ‘mysqld --initialize-insecure’at line 1"

How to import 5.5 data files into new 5.7 install? (no replies)

Hi

I was running a 5.5 installation on a machine where I am developing an application, using local databases, stored in C:\ProgramData\MySQL\MySQL Server 5.5\data

It was playing up (only running a few queries before losing connection) so in my desperation I uninstalled MySQL and downloaded and installed the latest, 5.7.

The databases are still in the 5.5\data folder. What is the correct way to move the data into the new installation? Can I just copy the data? I', converned there may be format differences, or other issues.

TIA

mysql_secure_installation (no replies)

Hi

I have just installed MySQL Cluster Server "MySQL-Cluster-server-gpl-7.2.27-1.sles11.i586" on SLES 11 i586 running on Oracle VM VirtualBox. After that, I am advised to run mysql_secure_installation:

SUSE:/media/sf_VM-SUSE # rpm -Uhv MySQL-Cluster-server-gpl-7.2.27-1.sles11.i586.rpm

PLEASE REMEMBER TO SET A PASSWORD FOR THE MySQL root USER !
To do so, start the server, then issue the following commands:

/usr/bin/mysqladmin -u root password 'new-password'
/usr/bin/mysqladmin -u root -h SUSE password 'new-password'

Alternatively you can run:
/usr/bin/mysql_secure_installation

which will also give you the option of removing the test
databases and anonymous user created by default. This is
strongly recommended for production servers.

See the manual for more instructions.

Please report any problems at http://bugs.mysql.com/

However, when I run /usr/bin/mysql_secure_installation, I get the error:

"can't find a 'mysql' client in path or ./bin"

I have checked and found the script is already existing under /usr/bin:

I have tried to follow some available hints/tips from forum, but it doesn't help. Can anyone be familiar with SLES 11 please help me fix this issue?

Thanks in advance.

secure_file_priv not read on Mac OSX installation (no replies)

From the error log file I see

2017-02-18T22:58:11.065057Z 0 [Note] --secure-file-priv is set to NULL. Operations related to importing and exporting data are disabled

as confirmed by

mysql> SHOW VARIABLES LIKE "secure_file_priv";
+------------------+-------+
| Variable_name | Value |
+------------------+-------+
| secure_file_priv | NULL |
+------------------+-------+
1 row in set (0.01 sec)

Still the setting is configured

root# more /etc/my.cnf
[mysql]
log-bin=mysql-bin
server-id=1
secure_file_priv="/users/userid/"

and server has been stopped and started multiple times, both from the settings menu and from the prompt using launchctl

What could be going wrong?

Created my.cnf on /etc now server won't start on mac OSX 10.12.3 (Sierra) (no replies)

I am a absolute beginner to mysql, and trying to enable query_cache_type = 2; for a project I am working on, and after reading documentation and a variety of posts I created a "my.cnf" file on cd /etc. Right after the creation of the file I tried restarting mysql server to no avail, but getting the following error:

"ERROR! The server quit without updating PID file (/usr/local/mysql/data/{user}.local.pid).

I have tried providing permission using
$ sudo chown -RL root:mysql /usr/local/mysql and entering my password

But when i try:

$ sudo /usr/local/mysql/support-files/mysql.server restart

The error that I got next is:

ERROR! MySQL server PID file could not be found!

I don't know what else to do... or how to update the PID file.

I apologize if the question is terribly dumb, but I am in need of help!

Hi,

I already installed a mysql 5.7.17 managed by systemd on RH7... it's running fine using multiple instances (@P1, @P2...).

Now I wish to install a mysql 5.6.35 (and other earlier versions)

1) can I use the same my.cnf ?
5.7 will use mysqld@P1, mysqld@P2 entries,
and 5.6 should start with mysqld_multi, using mysqld1, mysqld2 entries)

2) can I create a systemd entry for this 5.6 instance ? using the 5.7 model or any specific values ? (--daemonize is probably not available in 5.6)

3) i unsuccessfuly tried to start mysql 5.6 using -bash-4.2$ /mysql/mysql-5.6.35/bin/mysqld_multi start 2
WARNING: Log file disabled. Maybe directory or file isn't writable?
mysqld_multi log file version 2.16; run: Mon Feb 20 16:49:53 2017

Starting MySQL servers

=> no error... but no running server and no errorlog...

Thx for any help

Provision MySQL 5.7 Vagrant (no replies)

Prior to MySQL 5.7 in my Vagrant scripts I would be able to run a script that would allow the root MySQL user to login with no password and run a bunch of provisioning scripts.... create db's, users, permissions..etc.

With 5.7 however, the uniquely generated password after initial install breaks this process because I'm not able to login without a password now.

Has anyone had this issue? How do I run these provisioning scripts after fresh MySQL install without manually having to grab the generated password?

Thanks,
Adam

While attempting to install MySQL community on OSX 10.9 I get the message to save the auto generated root password, but it does not work for login.

Looking at the USER_PRIVILEGES table, the only entry is ''@'localhost'.

I get the same result whether installing under my own ID or as root on the Mac.

Using Windows (server 2012) and Web Platform installer to install wordpress, the installer will ask for a root MySQL password. It then proceeds to install. then a dialog box says password failed for root, enter the password.

Does not matter what you type, no password will work. Tried this http://dancerscode.com/blog/the-annoying-mysql-web-platform-installer-bug/

and it DID NOT FIX IT. I have uninstalled over 10 times, searched on how to address this (glitch) in MySQL. Is there any fix? Is there any known way to get around this "any password you try will never work" glitch?

Python Connector (1 reply)

I just installed MySQL Community Server - version 5.7. I am now trying to install the Python Connector. It is failing, saying that it can't find Python 3.4. Well, I have Python 3.6. Do you really think that I need to install 3.4? Because python.org does not have 3.4 posted anymore for download. They only have 3.5 and upward.

I am following the instructions of a textbook that will be illustrating db concepts using MySQL. But this is a sticking point...

(Additionally, I am installing in Windows 64-bit.)

Thanks.

Hi, I have version 5.7.16 and I want to initialize the database.

mysqld --initialize --user=mysql --basedir=/u01/app/mysql --datadir=/u01/app/mysql/data

Tried doing a mysql_install_db on Server B and get the following:

Any ideas, as I mentioned, no problems at all on Server A. I've had a good look for anything relating to the errno=32 but can't find anything.

I upgraded MySQL 5.5 to 5.6 as part of an upgrade to Atlassian Confluence 6.0.

Right after upgrading MySQL to 5.6, I noticed messages similar to the one below:

java.sql.SQLException: Error on rename of '.\confluencedb\#sql-9a8_f90.frm' to '.\confluencedb\ao_9412a1_aotask.frm' (Errcode: 13 - Permission denied)

I am currently running MySQL on Windows 2008 R2.

I've given full control to "everyone" in the MySQL data directory and C:/Windows/temp

Is there anything else that I need to look at?

SSL not working after El Capitan 5.6 to 5.7 upgrade (no replies)

I just installed MySQL community 5.7.12 on El Capitan, copied over my SSL CA, cert, and key files from my 5.6 folder and specified the files in the Network options section using Workbench.SSL is not enabling with the new installation. The SSL files are generated from the Mac keychain using wildcard certificates I purchased from a trusted authority (Alpha SSL).

I get this in my log:

Failed to set up SSL because of the following SSL library error: SSL context is not usable without certificate and private key

So I tried the new SSL Wizard in Workbench and generated a complete new set of SSL files and configured the server options exactly as the wizard specified. Same error.

Ideas?
