SHOW CREATE TABLE not revealing storage engine (no replies)

When I run the SHOW CREATE TABLE command, it doesn't show the storage engine at the end of the output, as it seems it should. This is causing a web app I'm trying to install to choke, as it wants to check compatibility with the storage engine. Anybody have any ideas why this isn't working properly for me?
