I have taken a look at your manual for 5.1.66 (x86 x 32-bit), MSI Installer for windows but I am still having trouble downloading ahd installing mysql on my Windows vista 32-bit. Apparently there needs to be a mirrored site that need to be downloaded and installed as part of the install. I have located a mirror site close to my location, but during the installation there is no place where it asks for the mirrored site. I uninstalled and reinstalled because the service would not start. Am I using the correct downloaded file? The options that I see are the windows (x86, 32-bit), MSI Installer, (x86, 32-bit), MSI Installer Essentials - recommended, or the X86,32-bit), zip archive (mysql-noninstall-5.5.66-win32zip).

I'm having problems during the installation of MySQL 5.5 on my computer. I go through the entire process, just to have it freeze when it is applying the settings I have made for it. Then, when I try to turn it on in services or use it in my CMD, it say that cant connect to mysql server on local host?
Why can't I get this to work on my computer? I'm taking a class right now that needs this and not even my professor knows how to fix this problem.

We will NOT have anything in /var/lib/mysql
Instead, I initialized with this:
mysql_install_db --user=mysql --ldata=/opt/mysql01
Unfortunately, now I want to run /usr/bin/mysql_secure_installation and get the following errors:
ERROR 2002 (HY000): Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (2)
What ought I do for a secure MySQL setup and best practices?

It doesn't work to intall mysql as windows service (-1 replies)
I'm new using mysql, and last week I reinstalled mysql on my machine but forgot to confirm the INSTALL AS WINDOWS SERVICE option, so I find out this instruction to install the mysql as windows service:

And the actual commands I used are as following:
mysqladmin -u root shutdown;
mysqld --install;
They didn't work, I still have to start the mysql service through the windows service control panel manually.

I just installed the latest version of MySQL Community Server (not the entire bundle). According to a book I'm reading, there is supposed to be a panel that allows you to start and stop MySQL and show your preferences. I installed the version for 32-bit Windows.

I have also created 2 distinct startup scripts:

MySQL enterprise agent install (no replies)
Hi All
we're struggle to fix this issue for a while. the MySQL enterrpise monitroing tool is installed on Linux 6 (server 240) and database and enterprise agent are installed on Server 245 without any error messages. but we couldn't see inventory table created in mysql database and the server 245 doesn't show up on dashboard. the message in mysql-monitor-agent.log is

We're currently using version 5.5.8 and wish to start using 5.5.28. Is this considered an upgrade? And if so are we really expected to to do sequential upgrades: i.e. 5.5.8 to 5.5.9 to 5.5.10 to 5.5.11, etc. up to 5.5.28?
If this is not considered an upgrade, then what should I call it?

MySQL as a Service when database is on network server (1 reply)
I have a MySQL server running on a Windows 7 computer (XAMPP install). I have the database located on a mapped drive on a network server. If I start the server without using the Service option everything works just fine.
If I try to install as a service it will not run with the database on the mapped drive. I have tried changing the user to the admin account which has full rights on the network server but it still won't start.
If I have the database local it runs just fine as a service.
I really would like to be able to make this work so that I can use the Workbench or is there some other way to connect using the Workbench such that the server doesn't have to be running as a service?

If I try to install as a service it will not run with the database on the mapped drive. I have tried changing the user to the admin account which has full rights on the network server but it still won't start.
If I have the database local it runs just fine as a service.
I really would like to be able to make this work so that I can use the Workbench or is there some other way to connect using the Workbench such that the server doesn't have to be running as a service?

Hard not to wonder just who was spying on Carol from the woods
The Walking Dead season 3 episode 4 promo for "Killer Within" below Downton Abbey Season 3 Episode 8 shows the happenings in Woodbury and in the prison. In Woodbury, Michonne's doing some snooping, and it looks like the Governor may have caught her based on where she is when he tells her, "We could use a soldier like you. Revenge Season 2 Episode 6 " However, Michonne would rather take her chances outside. The Walking Dead Season 3 Episode 4 of Woodbury than inside its walls. You can't blame her, but if she chose to leave, would Andrea go with her? Also going on in Woodbury is Merle ready to go searching for his broth Boardwalk Empire Season 3 Episode 8 and he has found out where the farmhouse was. But they're long gone from that area, and instead, it's hard not to wonder just who was spying on Carol from the woods as she tried to prepare herself for a possible C-section when Lori goes into labor.

Meanwhile in the prison, the survivors are dealing with a lot of trouble. Dexter Season 7 Episode 6 First of all, there's the fact that someone axes open the gate, so they have to do some more walker killing?and everyone's in on that, Homeland Season 2 Episode 6including Lori. Then there's the fact that Axel and Oscar aren't sticking to their deal of staying inside their assigned cellblock. Who's messing with them? Who axed open the gate? Will Rick kill these other two prisoners The Mentalist Season 5 Episode 6 before the episode's over? But is the most disturbing part of the promo what's lying on the ground towards the end of it?After "Walk With Me" focused on Andrea and Michonne's introduction to Woodbury and the Governor, this next episode is going to show both groups and what's next?and there's reason to think that both the prison and Woodbury are not safe. Michonne was being very waryepisode TheWalking Dead Season 3 Episode 4 and episode 2 saw the group find a few inmates still alive in the prison. Both those topics will be raised next week.
