On a MacBook Pro, os 10.6, I was following the advice of Lynda.com on installing MySQL, and updating Apache and PHP. I was ok until I got to checking the Preferences pane for MySQL, and learned that the MySQL Database server is stopped. When I tried to start MySQL Server, I got a message that "/Library/Startupitems/MySQL.COM has not been started because it doesn't have the proper security settings. Using the Terminal, I see that I now have Apache/2.2.14, PHP 5.3.2, and MySQL 5.5.6-rc. The instructions of Lynda.com gave Apache/1.3.33, PHP 5.2.1, and MySQL 5.0.27.
What should I do?
