I'm trying to install Mysql 5.1 on windows 7. I've had it set up before, but I couldn't create any new databases because I kept getting the message that ''@localhost (note: not root) didn't have the privileges.
So I've decided to reinstall. I have done this a couple of time and hhave also manually deleted the mysql folders from my Program files directory.
The issue I'm getting is that, even with a new install, I'm still only allowed to signin using my old password (rather than it being set up with no password). And instead of automatically being signed in to begin with as root, I'm still being signed in as ''.
This is seriously frustrating and I just want to start from fresh. Why is it still remembering my old password. Presumably I have missed deleting something, but I don't know from where.
